    Introduction

Super alloys are high performance alloys that are known for their excellent mechanical strength and resistance to creep at elevated temperatures, good surface stability, and good corrosion and oxidation resistance.

Super alloy INCONEL N06230 is a carbide strengthened nickel-chromium-tungsten-molybdenum alloy. This alloy is known for its superior combination of stability, strength and resistance to corrosion at elevated temperatures. It also provides good resistance to oxidation at temperatures greater than 980°C (1800°F) and good resistance to carburization and nitridation.

The following section explains in detail about super alloy INCONEL N06230.

    Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Hot and cold forming, machining and welding can all be performed using the conventional processes for high-strength nickel alloys. In case of heavy forming and forging the temperature range is 1010-1230°C (1850-2250°F). Light working can be done at 954°C (1750°F). Similarly in the case of performing annealing before forming, it can be done at 1066-1149°C (1950-2100°F) so as to avoid a coarse grain structure for forming.

    Applications

INCONEL N06230 is used in equipment and components for the following application areas:

    Land-based gas turbines

    Thermal and petrochemical processing

    Heat treating

    Ore and metal refining.
